1891 census...Aged 2, he was at The Common, Holywell Row, Mildenhall with his father John CLEMENTS [33] farm labourer born Islington; his mother Alice [32] born St Mathews, Cambridge; brother Albert E (under 1 month), born Mildenhall and a nurse, Emma Palmer[20] born Lakenheath. 1901 census...Aged 12, he was at Undley Common, Mildenhall with his parents, brother Albert and sister Alice E [5] born Mildenhall. 1911 census...Aged 22, a farm labourer, he was at The Common, Holywell Row, Mildenhall with his parents; brother Albert E (farm labourer); sister Alice E. In 1916 he married Sarah Eizabeth POWELL [11-9-1891](Mildenhall Q3-1916 4a:1838) They lived at Kenny Hill. |

John enlisted in Bury St.Edmunds. Dying of his wounds and no Army records available it is unlikely that the exact place and date of his wounding will ever be discovered. The battalion spent the opening days of December 1916 in the region of Les Bouefs and Guillemont and suffering few casualties.
